Furnishing a bedroom from scratch is expensive. Walk into most furniture stores and you're looking at $400 for a bed, $500 for a dresser, $200 for a nightstand... suddenly you're at $1,100 and you haven't even bought a mirror.

That's why we sell bedroom packages - everything you need in one box, at one price. Here's what's available under $800 at Furniture Deals, and how to make it work in a Kansas City apartment.

Alisdair 6-Piece Queen Sleigh Bedroom Set - $699.96

What's included:

  • Queen sleigh bed
  • 6-drawer dresser
  • Mirror
  • Nightstand

Style: Traditional dark brown wood

This is the one I sell most often to Kansas City renters. At $699.96, you get a complete bedroom that doesn't look like dorm furniture. The queen bed fits in standard bedrooms (you need roughly 10x10 feet of floor space). The dresser gives you real storage - six drawers, not those tiny 4-drawer jobs.

Apartment fit: The sleigh bed has a curved headboard and footboard that add presence to a room. Works great in spaces 10x12 or larger. If your bedroom is smaller, consider the full size version.

Alisdair 6-Piece Full Sleigh Bedroom Set - $679.96

What's included:

  • Full sleigh bed
  • 6-drawer dresser
  • Mirror
  • Nightstand

Style: Traditional dark brown wood

Same set, smaller bed. A full bed gives you about 6 inches less width than a queen - fine for one person, tight for two. But in a 9x10 bedroom, that 6 inches matters for walking space.

Apartment fit: Full beds fit in smaller rooms - 9x9 or 9x10 is doable. You lose some sleeping space but gain floor space.

Alisdair 6-Piece King Sleigh Bedroom Set - $799.96

What's included:

  • King sleigh bed
  • 6-drawer dresser
  • Mirror
  • Nightstand

Style: Traditional dark brown wood

Right at our $800 limit, but if you've got the room, a king bed is worth it. You need a 12x12 bedroom minimum to fit this comfortably with the dresser and nightstand.

Let me break down what you're getting with the Alisdair sets:

The Bed

SizeWidthLengthHeadboard Height
Twin42"84"48"
Full57"85"48"
Queen63"90"48"
King78"90"48"

Important: These are the assembled dimensions. The headboard and footboard come in pieces that fit through standard doorways.

The Dresser

Dimensions: 59"W x 34"H x 16"D

Six drawers with metal glides. The 16-inch depth is apartment-friendly - doesn't stick out into the room. At 59 inches wide, it needs a solid wall. Don't try to wedge this into a corner.

The Nightstand

Dimensions: 22"W x 24"H x 16"D

Two drawers. Standard size - fits comfortably next to any of the beds.

The Mirror

Mounts to the dresser or hangs on the wall. Your choice.

Kansas City apartment bedrooms come in all sizes. Here's what fits where:

The 9x9 Bedroom (Older Overland Park Units)

  • Full bed: fits, but tight
  • Dresser: mount the mirror on the wall instead of on the dresser to save space
  • Nightstand: fits on one side only

Reality check: You'll have about 2 feet of walking space on three sides of the bed. Manageable but cozy.

The 10x10 Bedroom (Standard Apartment)

  • Full bed: comfortable fit
  • Queen bed: doable, but you'll want to position the dresser on the wall opposite the bed
  • Nightstand: fits on one side, maybe both if you're creative

The 10x12 Bedroom (Newer Construction)

  • Queen bed: perfect fit
  • Dresser: goes on the long wall
  • Nightstands: room for both sides

The 12x12 Bedroom (Luxury/Single Family)
  • King bed: you're good
  • Dresser with mirror attached
  • Nightstands: both sides easily
  • Bonus: room for a chair or small desk

Some KC apartments - especially the older ones near downtown or in Midtown - have bedrooms that are basically closets. Here's how to adapt:

  • Skip the nightstand: Use a wall-mounted shelf or tiny floating table
  • Wall-mount the mirror: Saves dresser-top space
  • Consider a full bed: That 6-inch width savings matters
  • Put the dresser in the closet: If you've got a standard reach-in closet, the 16-inch depth might fit inside, leaving the bedroom floor clear

Here's what you need to know about getting your bedroom set home:

Delivery Area

We deliver throughout the Kansas City metro - Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee, Leawood, and into Missouri. Call for specific areas.

Delivery Timing

  • In-stock items: usually 2-3 business days
  • Special order: 2-4 weeks depending on the manufacturer

What to Measure Before Delivery

  • Doorway width: The headboard pieces are the widest. They'll fit through a 30-inch doorway on end.
  • Stairwell: If you're upstairs, check the stairway width and ceiling height at the landing.
  • Bedroom door: Make sure the assembled bed frame can get through your bedroom door.

Pro tip: The dresser is 59 inches wide but only 16 inches deep. If your doorway is tight, we can tip it on its side.

Assembly

The bed requires assembly - headboard, footboard, and side rails connect with bolts. It's straightforward but takes about 30 minutes. The dresser and nightstand come fully assembled.

We don't offer assembly service, but the delivery drivers will carry everything to your room and you can assemble at your pace.

The Alisdair line has matching pieces if you want to expand later:

  • Alisdair Chest: $249.99 - Five drawers, tall and narrow. Great for extra storage if your closet is small.
  • Extra Nightstand: $99.99 - If you end up with room for two.

Short answer: Yes, if your expectations are realistic.

The Alisdair sets are made by Signature Design by Ashley - a real manufacturer, not some fly-by-night import company. It's engineered wood (MDF and particleboard) with wood veneer, not solid hardwood. That's how they hit this price point.

Will it last forever? No. Will it last your 3-year apartment lease? Absolutely. Will it last 5-7 years of daily use? Probably, if you're not rough on it.

The drawers have metal ball-bearing glides - they open and close smoothly. The finish is consistent. It's not heirloom furniture, but it's not disposable junk either.

Bedroom furniture is personal. You spend a third of your life in bed - you should see what you're buying. Come to the Overland Park store, check out the Alisdair sets in person. Open the drawers, lean against the headboard, see how the color looks in real light.

I'm here to answer questions about sizing, delivery, whatever you need. No pressure, no BS.

Prices current as of May 2025. The Alisdair line is usually in stock, but call ahead if you're making a special trip.
